Father's Day

First things first, I am Danielle, I am creating this blog for my dad who had a stroke in May of 2005. He is permanently paralyzed on the left side of his body. He has always written poems for different events and places in his life; I wish I had them all to share, but unfortunately I do not. He has written some very beautiful pieces of which I am not sure I will ever find. He continues to write his poems when he finds the inspiration. This one below to kick off the start of the blog was titled "Father's Day". He wrote this poem for his son, Mark. And his son in law Brian and future son in law Josh. He is very proud of you all and your abilities as a father.

Father's Day

What it means to be a Father
To have a son or a daughter
To have that person to mold and make
To always love and never forsake
Be it a son or a daughter
It doesn't matter you are a father
It's more than teaching to play ball
or riding a bike and not to fall
It's more than teaching how to drive
It's more like teaching how to survive
Sometimes they may get in trouble
But no matter what they are no bother
For you are more than just a man you are a Father.

*I will always have the poem post marked in a sealed envelope before I publish the current poem.
